US suspends financial participation in Iter
The USA has admitted that it will have to suspend financial participation in the Iter experimental fusion reactor project due to cuts in the federal research budget.

The signing of a Eur4 billion contract for two new nuclear power reactors was welcomed by vendor AtomStroyExport, (ASE) which said that its selection for the new plant would help its chances to win further contracts in Europe.

Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd and the Nuclear Power Institute of China have signed an agreement to work together on the development of low uranium consumption Candu technologies in China.
  China contributes $1.4 billion to ITER

China will contribute 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) to the International Thermonuclear Experimental Nuclear Reactor (ITER). Chinese researchers will build components and transport them to Cadarache, where construction of ITER is due to start this year.

COL application for USEPR at Susquehanna to be submitted
Unistar Nuclear Energy (UNE) and PPL Corp have agreed to prepare and submit a combined construction and operating licence (COL) application for a potential third reactor at PPL's Susquehanna nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania.
  Texas establishes Nuclear Power Institute
A Nuclear Power Institute (NPI) is to be established at Texas A&M University to ensure the state has sufficient qualified workers for its growing nuclear power industry.
