Westinghouse awarded contract to help complete US reactor
Westinghouse has been awarded a contract worth some $200 million by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for equipment upgrades and support services for the completion of unit 2 of the Watts Bar nuclear power plant in Tennessee.
  Bruce Power and CME prepare for nuclear investments
Bruce Power has joined forces with Canadian Manufacturers & Exports (CME) to help prepare for up to $40 billion of new nuclear investment in Ontario over the next 15 years. Nuclear energy plays a significant role in Ontario's energy plan announced last year.
 
 
Firms get set for new build
Companies involved in the push for new nuclear power in the UK reacted favourably to the government invitation to submit their plans for new build. Areva has announced that it wants to build four to six large reactors in the country.
  Bruce refurb and uprate project progresses

Bruce Power has progressed on its refurbishment and uprate projects. All the replacement steam generators have now been delivered for units 1 and 2, while three of the units have now been uprated.
 
 
Westinghouse invests in zirconium tube plant
Westinghouse is to invest nearly $13 million in improvements at a plant that makes zirconium alloy tubes for nuclear fuel in readiness for the worldwide nuclear renaissance.
  Russian push for new business continues
Russian diplomats and officials have continued their push for nuclear power contracts worldwide, addressing Bangladesh, Uruguay, Turkey, Morocco and even the UK.
 
 
VT Group to buy BNG Project Services
VT Group - a UK defence and support service company - has agreed to acquire the British Nuclear Group Project Services (BNGPS) business from British Nuclear Group (BNG), itself a subsidiary of BNFL. The sale is expected to be completed in January 2008.
  Alstom to construct new US turbine plant

French engineering group Alstom announced that it will spend over $200 million on constructing a new facility in the USA for the manufacture of steam turbines, gas turbines, generators and related equipment for use in US power plants.
